Plae ("we", "our", "the app") is developed by Yash Baheti. This policy describes how we handle your information.

Information We Collect

Plae does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. The app operates entirely on your device and does not communicate with any servers operated by us.

Data Stored on Your Device

Plae stores the following data locally on your Mac:

  • Your app preferences and settings (source language, target language, translation engine)
  • Your translation history (stored locally as a JSON file)
  • Downloaded AI model files (if you use the built-in AI model)

This data is stored locally and is not transmitted to any external server.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or have access to:

  • The text you translate
  • Personal identifying information
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Crash reports (unless you choose to share via Apple)
  • Location data

Network Activity

Plae does not make network requests during normal use. All three translation engines (Apple Translation, Apple Intelligence, and the built-in AI model) operate locally on your device. The only network activity occurs during the initial download of language models or AI models, which is handled by macOS or the app's built-in downloader.

Third-Party Services

Plae integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Apple Translation Framework: Runs on-device via macOS. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple Intelligence: Runs on-device via macOS. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple App Store: Handles purchase and distribution. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

All data remains on your device until you clear your history or delete the app. Since no data is transmitted to us, we have no ability to access or delete it remotely.

Children's Privacy

Plae is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page and update the effective date.
